Gela Zautashvili's name is associated with the first exhibitions of abstractionism in the second half of the 1980s in Paris and Moscow, the formation of a non-figurative art group with Alexander (Shura) Bandzeladze, Gia Edzgveradze, Iliko Zautashvili and Luka Lasareishvili.
His works are kept in the Georgian National Gallery, Tretyakov Gallery, private collections in Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, France, Switzerland.
The exhibition "In-between" consists of 15 bold and provocative works created for different projects in the period between the 80s and 2000s.
“There are so many things in-between the sky and the earth, where the artist is trying to find the truth. And the truth, in its turn, is wonderful thing – the more you strive for it, the more it slips away and then disappears. The artist is an A-moral thinker in the eternal blissfulness of a brilliant interpretation of life. Do not attribute immoral inclinations to him, as he has the right to reflect absolutely everything.
Each artist, relying on elements of an inherited culture, expands the boundaries of their experiments. They also set a moral limit for themselves, which they will never cross.”
