SOunds of Silence | Giorgi Gatserelia

On Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 PM, Giorgi Gatserelia’s solo show “Sounds of Silence” will be opened at Vanda Art Gallery.

The exhibition will feature 20 works created by the artist in recent years.

“I rarely look for answers to my questions in words. More often, they take the form of images, space, light, and shadow.
Sounds of Silence is a visual journey of inner exploration.

The landscapes of Georgia, villages, skies, sea, people, and animals presented in the exhibition are not merely representations of a particular environment or moment. For me, they carry different states of existence – sometimes calmness, sometimes anticipation, sometimes solitude and melancholy, and at other times the invisible movement of life.

A world freed from color seems to come closer to what is essential – light and darkness, form and space, trace and memory. Here, silence is not emptiness; it is a space where every visible occurrence, even the smallest detail, can become a voice – the movement of the wind, the horizon of the sea, the gaze of an animal, a person, an empty space, a village house, or a sky that seems to stretch endlessly. It is a space where the invisible voices of nature, people, and time can be heard.

It is precisely these invisible voices that I try to listen to. I want to convey my inner state through my works; I want each work to awaken in the viewer a feeling, a memory, or a question of their own.

Perhaps this is where Sounds of Silence comes to life – where words end and the image begins to speak.

Let the works speak for the rest.”
