After graduating Economic Collage of Tbilisi, Korneli Sanadze started studying fine arts in the State Studio of Arts named by Mose Toidze in 1922, in 1924 he started mastering art on the new level, now as a student of Tbilisi State Academy of Art. His teachers were excellent Russian artists Yevgeny Lanceray and Osip Charlemagne, well known Georgian artist – Gigo Gabashvili and Armenian artist Tate Vosyan.

Sanadze has began independent creative career right after he graduated from the state academy of arts in 1929, then he started teaching at the fine arts faculty at the same place in 1934.

It is noteworthy that in 1930, when his aspirations towards art and poetry were clearly formed, he entered the Tbilisi State Conservatory, where he studied for 4 years and mastered vocals.

Korneli Sanadze was one of the founders and leaders of the Georgian Society of Revolutionary Artists – “Sarma”, founded on February 8, 1930.

Since 1924, Sanadze has been a participant in all state exhibitions, working actively in artists associations at the board of the Artists’ Union. He has worked on decorations for movies: “Dariko”, “Woman in Green”.

Also in the Opera and Ballet Theater: “Carmen”, “Daisy”, “Cry of the Mountains”, “Mother and Child”.

At the Rustaveli Theater: “Under the Weeping Willow”.

In Marjanishvili Theater: “Marriage of the Kolmeurne”, “Shamil”.

In Kutaisi Theater: “Othello”, “People of Yesterday”, “Kikvidze”.

In Batumi Theater: “Poladauri”, “Bread”.

Cornelius Sanadze has also taken part in exhibitions abroad, in particular in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

Not only is the role of Korneli Sanadze as a brilliant artist essencial, but as a teacher in the upbringing and formation of young Georgian artists.

His students were prominent artists: G. Toidze, G. Totibadze, G. Jashi etc. Korneli Sanadze’s works are exhibited in the Georgian State Museum of Literature, the State Theater Museum, the Shota Rustaveli Drama Theater Museum, the Zakaria Paliashvili Opera and Ballet Theater, the Adjara Autonomous Museum, the St. Petersburg State Museum. Cornell Sanadze is best known for his work “The Gardener” and “Singapore Watermelons”, which was auctioned in Birmingham in 2007 and purchased at an unknown price by an anonymous buyer.
